Alyssa's first swimming class

Alyssa started her first swimming class today. She put on her favorite swimsuit and went down to the swimming pool at 11:30am to meet her little friend Carson. He is now 14 months old and they are taking the swimming class together. We were a little concerned about the time of the classes. 11:30 is pushing very close to her usual morning nap time and we were expecting a melt down half way through the class. She surprised us and had a great time. We learned how to float on our back, blow bubbles and sing songs! She only started to get tired and a little fussy in the last 10 minutes of the class. We took a few pictures and some video. Enjoy!

Boating is Fun!

With this post we have finally caught up to the present. A few weeks ago our family went down to Tulsa Oklahoma for the annual Walker family gathering. Every June we pack up and drive on down to Keystone Lake and spend the weekend just letting loose! This year, Alyssa made her first voyage on the party boat over to the beach for a day of fun in the sun. In order to make such a trip, she needed a life jacket. So mommy and daddy searched high and low and found the perfect life jacket. However, our little pixie is a just a bit smaller than the average 6 month old infant. Even though the life jacket was perfect....it was almost as big as Alyssa. It worked great, and she enjoyed swimming in the lake. We had a fun weekend with family and at the end of the day Alyssa shared a nap with her cousins Lane and Tanner.

BACK IN THE POOL!

Alyssa is back in the pool! We just can't keep her out of the water. She just loves to swim. Mommy thought it would be a great idea to buy Alyssa her own swimming pool, and she was right! Alyssa loves it!

Relay For Life

For a couple years now, our family have actively supported the McPherson County Relay for Life event and their drive to find a cure for Cancer. Last year, mommy was pregnant yet walked with the rest of us for many laps around the track. This year, mommy had to work, so it was up to Alyssa and Daddy to represent! It was a great night and Alyssa was a very popular girl! She did over 60 laps in her stroller to show her support for the fight agaist Cancer! She stuck it out for most of the night, but finally had to crash in Daddy's tent. By the end of the night, she was a very tired girl.

Daddy's Birthday

Daddy's birthday came and went, but not without a little fun. We gave Alyssa a little practice for her first birthday and the upcoming Christmas holiday. Daddy asked her to help open his birthday present. She was all about ripping open that paper! Can't wait to see her with a stack of her own gifts!

Easter Pictures!

Just a few pictures of the little one from Easter. Enjoy!

Yummy in the Tummy!

So after a few months, we started to introduce different foods to Alyssa. So far her diet had been formula and rice cereal. One night, we decided to start with Sweet Potatoes, why not, everyone loves sweet potatoes right? Actually, I had my reservations. I figured she would take one taste and that would be the end of it. We were both surprised at what actually happened when we sat her down in her Bumbo chair and let the spoon fly. Watch my favorite home video to date!

First swim in the pool!

Mommy had to head to Salina to attend a meeting for work. Just the excuse we needed to take a road trip! During the stay, mommy had a great idea. Alyssa just loves to take her bath. She just loves to play and kick her feet and swim in the tub. So it was just natural that she would love a dip in the pool. Well, Daddy and Alyssa took a quick dip but it was a bit colder than we expected in a heated pool. Daddy was pretty sure that the water hadn't been heated for a while. Other than the cool temp, it was a fun time. After her swim, Alyssa was wore out and it was nappy time! Enjoy the pictures and the video!

My Valentine and a visit from Tanner

Valentines Day arrived quickly! I can't believe it had been 2 months since our litle Angle was born! Alyssa and mommy came to visit daddy at work, it was a great surprise! A few days later, we were treated to a visit from Laurie's cousin Heather and her new baby Tanner. Tanner was just 2 months older than Alyssa, but he has grown like a weed! He's a tough little cookie, but Alyssa loved having a friend to share her toys and hang out.

Snow Bunnie!

Shortly after Christmas, we had a really good snow here in Hutchinson. More substantial than we have had previously. Alyssa couldn't wait to get out and play in the snow! She bundled up in her little snowsuit and had a great time. Just check out the pictures!

Generations......

So one day we finally had a convergence of our schedules and we were able to take a few trips out to visit some family.
First we drove down to Oklahoma to visit Laurie's grandparents. Alyssa met her Great Grandfather Ken Walker and Great Grandmother Betty. She was spoiled by her Great Aunt Carla and adored by Great Uncle Ken.
Next we drove across Kansas to visit my Grandparents. Alyssa met Great Grandfather Larry and Great Grandmother DeVera. Grandma almost had to pry Alyssa away from PaPa Larry, they were having such a great time cuddling.

Christmas 2009

Ok, so the first event I need to update was from Christmas. I know, 6 months and now I'm finally updating the blog from Christmas. Well Dec 25th was Alyssa's first Christmas at a total of 24 days old!
It was actually a bitter sweet Christmas for us here in the Campbell household. For the first time in the last 3 years ALL of the Campbell family was going to be making it back to Goodland for the Holiday. I was excited to finally see my sister and niece, whom I haven't seen in almost 2 years since they live in Ohio. My brother Stuart was driving down from Wyoming. Casey and his family were driving up from Arkansas. As excited as we could be, we were disappointed days before we were to leave town. Casey and his family had driven through a few days before and stopped to see the in-laws in Hays. During their stay, their son Connor became very ill, possibly RSV. Due to Connor's illness and Alyssa just weeks old, we decided it would be the best thing if we stayed home, in order not to expose Alyssa.
Luckily, Laurie's family live here in Hutchinson, so we were not alone for the Holidays. We spent Christmas at the in-laws, it was a great time and we were able to call home to Goodland. Alyssa slept through most of Christmas morning, but I'm sure she's just resting up for next year when she can rip through the wrapping paper and packages.
It was a great first Christmas as Mommy and Daddy and we can't wait for the many more to come! Enjoy the pictures!

So much to do, so little time.

Ok, it has been a long time since the Campbell family blog was updated. So much has happened in the last 6 months and I just haven't found the time to get it all posted on here. Well today I've found myself with a few extra minutes on my hands so I will be updating on events that have happened.
